The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most, he said “Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”
After graduating from university with a fine art degree I moved to London and started to work as an account manager for a web development agency. I loved the fast paced busy environment, but found it hard to switch off when i left the office.
This was when I came to find yoga, I found a release from the busy, hustle and bustle of London life, when I entered the studio, I switched off from everything, it was exactly what I needed. I took up a regular practice, and being on my yoga mat soon became my favourite part of the week.
After three months in India in 2009 I came back to London having made the decision that I would return to complete my teacher training. Two years later I completed my 200 Hour teacher training at Arhanta yoga ashram in Khajurhao, India. The course focused on traditional Hatha and Sivananda teachings with a strong focus on all aspects of yoga, including asana, pranayama, relaxation, meditation, healthy eating and positive thinking.
Living in a traditional indian ashram was a challenge but the experience was amazing, meeting other like minded people, sharing our passion for yoga, and learning more than I though possible in such a short space of time.
Since completing my teacher training in India i have continued to study and in 2014 I completed a Vinyasa flow teacher training immersion with Mimi Kuo Deemer and in 2015 i completed my pregnancy yoga teacher training with Yoga Mama. I’ve also taken part in a number of workshops with wonderful international yoga teachers such as Kino Macgregor, Ana Forrest and Chris Chavez and Meghan Currie.
Yoga helps me focus on creating a life that I love and I’d love to share my experiences with you.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all on the mat
